The years when Far West Services Inc., brought Southern California Reuben's, Reuben E. Lee, Plankhouse, Moonraker, Coco's, and others, were coincidentally, or maybe not coincidentally, were the best imaginable.  We were either rich, or knew we could be rich, not just in terms of actual bank account wealth, but in terms of the good life.

I worked at Coco's in Torrance in management, and can tell you that Far West Services knew what they were doing, and the proof was in the fact that people would wait hours just to eat there even during the week, and even after waiting that long, they were happy to have been there.

Like Reubens that was located at the other end of the building, it was as if they had come into our home, comfortable, intimate, well maintained, well run, best burgers and steaks, entertainment, and all affordable.  Anyone at all could manage to come and feel important, respected, liked and just plain good.

Is there any place today that could even come close?  Seriously, is there-I'd like to go there.
